IATUL Fall Seminar 2022, 13 to 15 December 2022

Over two days, international speakers representing libraries, publishers and the scientific community will shed light on current developments and challenges in the areas of scholarly communication, “metrics” and awareness in science. On day three, a study tour will provide a range of opportunities to learn more about Swiss libraries and the country in general.

Irmgard Lankenau Poster Prize 2022

Poster Prize Winners

During the 42nd Annual Conference of the International Association of University Libraries, that took place from 12 June to 16 June 2022, in Miami, USA, IATUL awarded the Irmgard Lankenau Poster Prize 2022 to:

Magdalena Szuflita-Żurawska and Piotr Krajewski from Gdańsk University of Technology, Poland, for their poster entitled:

"Creating Polish Working Group of the Data Stewardship Competence Centers Implementation Network (DSCC-IN PL) by the Gdansk University of Technology Library as an example of the community of practice building".

Breaking new ground: scholarly communication and libraries

The IATUL Fall Seminar will be proudly hosted by the ETH Library at ETH Zurich in Zurich, Switzerland. Please save the date: 13–15 December 2022.

We will present a programme around the topics:
- scholarly communication,
- metrics (bibliometrics and altmetrics),
- awareness in science.

We are pleased to offer you a perfect background and stage for the IATUL Fall Seminar in the surroundings of ETH Zurich and serve as an inspiring site for all participating members.

IATUL General Assembly June 14, 2022

Honorary life-time membership awarded to Dr. Reiner Kallenborn

At the 42nd Annual Conference of the International Association of University Libraries on June 14, 2022, in Miami, IATUL honoured Dr Reiner Kallenborn, University Librarian of the Technical University of Munich (TUM), with the honorary life-time membership.

The IATUL Board has the discretion to award an honorary life-time membership, to recognize an individual from an IATUL member institution who has served the association with marked distinction and has made significant contributions to IATUL through their leadership and engagement.

The award of the title took place during the General Assembly of IATUL, chaired by the President of IATUL, Dr. Anna Wałek. Dr. Reiner Kallenborn connected to Miami remotely.

The laureate is a longstanding member of IATUL, for which he served as Treasurer (2005-2011) and President (2013- 2018).

Among others, he introduced:

• the IATUL Office
• the IATUL Special Interest Groups
• the IATUL Directors’ Summit
• the IATUL Leadership Academy
• virtual regular IATUL Board meetings
• theme specific international IATUL workshops

Save the Date

IATUL General Assembly 2022

Dear IATUL Colleagues,

This year, thanks to a team of engaged conference organizers, we will soon convene for the 42nd IATUL Annual Conference 2022 in Miami. Due to the pandemic and related international travel difficulties for some, we are offering a hybrid conference, for those who are not able to attend in person.

Our IATUL General Assembly will be held as an online and/or in-person meeting on Tuesday 14th June, 11:00-12:00 EST via the online conference platform PheedLoop.

The General Assembly will allow the members of IATUL to get to know and review all of the great work done through the last year, in circumstances that continue to present challenges. We would also like to present plans for the upcoming year.

A link for the meeting will be provided to the members by e-mail.

We look forward to seeing you virtually on the 14th of June!
